When I was young we lived in Broome, Doodlakine, Pinjarra, Dampier and Perth (Western Australia) and I’ve lived here in WA all my life (so far)
I’m the concert photographer for Zaccaria Concerts & Touring Group having photographed Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu & Angus Stone (see Concerts & Bands), Jimmy Barnes, Sir Cliff Richard, Mark Semour and Icehouse. Being a musician myself and a band member from the 80’s (Crucal Cut/Secret Reasons) I love photographing musicians … and drummers! (old muso joke). I also sing every Sunday at Ironbark Brewery in Caversham for the Sunday session 2-5pm.
I love capturing the intimate expressions and beauty of peoples faces especially. Every face is unique and so variable depending on the mood of the person.
My first passion was and still is land & seascapes. It takes a lot of discipline to get up at 4am to travel sometimes for an hour or more to get to that special spot before daybreak to capture our beautiful land as the sun rises. We call that time ‘the magic hour’.
As you’ll see by my photos I just love black and white photography. B & W just strips everything back to the subject matter in it’s raw beauty. For me, if the colour of a shot doesn’t add to it, it will almost always look better in black & white.
I learned to use Photoshop back when only businesses were using it 20 years go. Digital photography was only just starting out and I was in business with my brother shooting fantasy photos of kids with Make a Scene. I’m glad I learned then because photoshop is an integral component of modern photography. Photoshop is the development room of the modern world. If you’re keen to learn how to use Photoshop, I can show you how. Contact me via my contact page. I can do it in person or on line.
This is what I shoot with for those interested;
